CONSERVATIVE RESTORATION
Frescoes, wall paintings, stone and wooden materials
Atelier of Restoration, Conservation and Artistic Decoration
manusfacto-milano is an independent atelier specialising in the conservation and restoration of frescoes, wall paintings, and stone and wooden surfaces.
Every intervention is based on respect for the historical, artistic and material authenticity of the work, following a methodological approach that prioritises minimal intervention, the compatibility of the materials used, the reversibility or retreatability of treatments, and the full recognisability of all integrations.
Restoration is understood as an intervention distinct from the original act of creation: every addition or reintegration must remain identifiable as evidence of contemporary intervention, without being confused with the artist’s original hand. This principle safeguards not only the integrity of the work, but also the legibility of its conservation history.
From preliminary examination and the assessment of the state of conservation to diagnostic investigations, and through to cleaning, consolidation, filling and pictorial reintegration, every stage is carried out with scientific rigour and historical and artistic sensitivity, in accordance with the principles of the discipline and internationally recognised conservation methodologies.
Artistic Decoration and Interior Painting
Alongside its restoration practice, Manus Facto Milano has developed a specialised field dedicated to pictorial and architectural decoration, with work carried out directly on site on architectural surfaces.
Services include trompe-l’œil decoration, architectural perspective painting, painted imitations of marble and wood, glazed finishes, patination, and both traditional and contemporary decorative treatments, including bespoke projects.
This specialisation is complemented by specific training in decorative painting, with a Diploma in Decorative Painting awarded by the Institut Supérieur de Peinture Van der Kelen-Logelain in Brussels, an internationally renowned institution dedicated to the study and transmission of historical decorative painting techniques, material imitation and artistic finishes.
The Atelier
The Atelier was founded on the professional experience of its founder, a conservator-restorer registered with the Italian Ministry of Culture’s National Register of Cultural Heritage Conservators-Restorers, with over fifteen years of professional experience and a Florentine-rooted education, deeply grounded in the historical and critical tradition of restoration.
